===== Probes =====

Zebrix Control works with **a probe** installed directly on your network, with access to all devices to supervise.

This probe is the component that **acts as a bridge between your equipment and the Zebrix Control servers**.  

You can **supervise devices directly or through their cloud platforms**(e.g., Cisco Control Hub, Poly Lens, etc.).

It can be provided in various forms:  
  * As a **physical appliance**.  
  * As an **ISO image** to be installed on a machine.  
  * As a **virtual image** to be deployed on your virtualization servers.

A probe communicates with your equipments to:  
  * Collect informations, known as **metrics**.  
  * Send them **commands**.  

The communication between the probe and our servers is conducted exclusively via outgoing traffic from your network. 

Therefore, there is no need to open incoming ports from our infrastructure.
