Tags and Location

To facilitate the management and organization of your equipment, Zebrix Control provides two essential features: tags and location.

These two mechanisms also allow you to finely manage access rights to your equipment.

Location

Each piece of equipment can be precisely located within a defined hierarchical structure.

This allows for:

  • Quick identification in equipment lists
  • Efficient filtering based on location
  • A consolidated view by site or building

Zebrix Control also offers location-based views:

  • Status per Spaces
  • Status per Locations

These views provide a consolidated visualization of equipment status by geographical area, aggregating the status of all equipment within a given location.

The calculation of location statuses is configurable. Click here to learn more.

Creating and Managing Locations

Location management is available via Configuration > Locations.

The location hierarchy is fixed and follows this structure:

  • Country
  • Site (including its timezone, used for scheduling and automated tasks)
  • Building
  • Floor
  • Space

For each location, it is recommended to assign a short code (typically a three-letter code) to simplify readability and administration.

Note: If your infrastructure consists of only one country, site, or building, Zebrix Control includes an intelligent optimization mechanism that automatically adjusts the display according to your actual structure.

Spaces

Spaces are enhanced locations.

They can include:

  • A photo
  • A floor plan
  • A calendar
  • A description

Spaces are mainly used in the Status per Spaces view.

You can enter descriptions using Unicode characters.

Zebrix Control supports Unicode characters (up to +FFFF), allowing you to use symbols such as ✌, β›…, ⭐, or πŸ“Œ by copying and pasting them.

To configure the calendar of a space, you must first configure calendar access in the tenant configuration.

Tags

A tag is a label used to group equipment sharing a common characteristic.

It helps classify, filter, and organize your equipment fleet based on different criteria.

Definition: A tag is an identifier assigned to equipment that shares the same role, function, or characteristic.

Examples of use:

  • Usage: Meeting_Room, Display_Window, Security
  • Criticality: VIP_Equipment
  • Responsible team: Workspace_Support, Telecom_Support
  • Network / infrastructure: LAN_Building_A, WiFi_Floor_3

Benefits of Tags

  • Quick filtering of equipment
  • Visual organization using colors, names, and icons
  • Automation of targeted actions for specific groups
  • Advanced rights management by category

A single piece of equipment can have multiple tags, allowing multi-criteria classification.

Creating and Managing Tags

Tag management is available via Configuration > Tags.

You can customize your tags by adding:

  • A color
  • An icon
  • Unicode characters

Zebrix Control supports Unicode characters (up to +FFFF), allowing you to use symbols such as ✌, β›…, ⭐, or πŸ“Œ.
