Metrics and Commands
In Zebrix Control: A measurement is data collected from a device. A command is an action sent to the device.
On this page, you can:
- View measurements and execute commands.
- Check the measurement history.
- Configure the measurement collection.
We will detail the configuration process below.
1. Selecting the driver(s)
The first step is to select which drivers will be used. For each type of device, Zebrix Control offers a list of compatible drivers.
Select only the drivers you need.
2. Configuring a driver
Let’s take the Ping driver as an example (the process is the same for any driver). You can refer to the drivers page for more information.
The first fields allow you to configure access to the device.
In the case of the Ping driver, you must enter the device’s IP address.
Then select the measurements you want to use in the application, as well as the frequency at which the information is collected.
Fair Use Note: The data collection frequency in Zebrix Control is defined by the user. To ensure service stability and preserve shared resources, it is recommended to follow fair use principles: avoid excessively high frequencies that could overload devices, the network, or the platform. Technical limits may be automatically applied in the event of disproportionate usage.
Using Variables
It is possible to configure a driver using variables defined at the device level.
This approach is useful when:
Multiple drivers use the same information.
The configuration is managed through device templates.
Define the variable in the attributes on the Information page.
Use the moustache notation {{variable_name}} in the driver configuration.
