Your First Incident

In Zebrix Control, an incident refers to sending a status change notification through a communication channel.

An incident is based on three key components:

  • Notification Channel: Configures the communication method used (e.g., email, SMS, etc.).
  • Incident Connector: Defines when the notification channel will be used (incident opening, closure, or both).
  • Incident Configuration: Specifies the status changes that trigger the incident.

In this example, we will configure an email notification to be sent when a probe can no longer reach an equipment. Before starting, make sure to set your equipment back to an OK status (by turning it on or reconnecting its network cable).

Notification Channel

1. Go to Configuration / Incidents, select the Notification Channels tab, and click the + button.
2. Enter a name for your channel, select email as the communication method, and enter your email address.

Incident Connector

1. Navigate to the Connectors tab and click +. 2. Define when the notification channel should be used: on incident opening, closure, or both. 3. Set up your connector as shown in the example below:

Incident Configuration

1. Go to the Configuration tab, click +, and enter a name for the incident. 2. Set the threshold for triggering the incident (critical in this example). 3. Link the connector you just created.

Applying to Your Equipment

1. Return to your equipment's configuration, navigate to the Incidents tab.
2. Add the incident configuration you just created.

Testing Your Configuration

Repeat the previous test by disconnecting the network or turning off your equipment. The equipment will switch to a critical status, and you will receive an email notification informing you of the status change.
